We Are Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week 2022
February 2022
The 15th annual National Apprenticeship Week takes place between the 7th to 13th February 2022.
This year’s theme looks at building the future and focuses on highlighting the benefits apprenticeships can have both on the apprentices themselves and the businesses they work with.
Here at Qube Environmental we can speak from experience in terms of what a difference an apprentice can make.

Rewind back to 2015, David Cameron became the new Prime Minister, NASA found flowing water on Mars and Cameron Derricutt joined Qube as our very own Business Apprentice. Seven years on Cameron’s knowledge of the business has gone from strength to strength and he’s now one of our Legionella Risk Assessor.
Cameron – tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m 24 and I currently live in Stafford with my girlfriend. I have been with Qube for just over 6 years.
What was like joining the team as an apprentice?
With the team being a small group it was fairly easy integrating myself with only a small number of relationships to build & enabled me to form strong working relationships with everyone.
What kind of things were you doing?
At the start of my apprenticeship, I assisted with general administration work helping assessors with report compilation. After showing a strong interest and a natural aptitude for assessments, I started to go on visit sites with existing assessors to see what they entail to progress my role.
How has your role developed?
My role has developed into a more independent position over the last 4 years or so. Progressing from risk assessing, monthly monitoring and assisting on two-man operations to risk assessing forming the predominant part of my job role.
What does your role involve?
My role involves risk assessing new or contracted existing clientele, annual management reviews and working on two-man operations such as cold water storage tank cleans.
What do you enjoy most about it?
In my role I enjoy the diversity in day to day work-life the most, no two days are the same and with seeing new sites almost every day things stay fresh.
When you’re not at work – what do you enjoy doing most?
I enjoy food, travel and sport in my spare time.
Cameron is an asset to our team and we’re looking forward to working with him and watching his career develop with Qube Environmental.
