Qube Services: Legionella Risk Assessments, Water Testing & Tank Services

Humankind Requirements:

Initially, Jamie at Humankind contacted the team at Qube Environmental to carry out Legionella Risk Assessments and Water Analysis at five recently acquired Staffordshire based Humankind Centres: Stafford, Burton, Leek, Newcastle, and Tamworth.

After these had been completed, Humankind contacted us to service more of their sites outside of Staffordshire, as they had been very happy with our work so far and wanted to continue this for their other properties in locations such as Leeds, Barnsley, and Halifax. As both a company and a charity, Humankind are committed to making sure that their premises are safe for the people that use their services, the employees and the volunteers who work there.

With a strong focus on helping people lead healthier and safer lives, it is imperative to Humankind that their water systems are safe and compliant to support this mission.

What we did:

For each site, we went through a short process to establish exactly what was present, so that we could quote accurately for a Legionella Risk Assessment & Water Analysis. Jamie at Humankind was very helpful and knowledgeable about each site, providing the correct information as requested, which enabled quotes to be turned around quickly and meant we could start our site visits swiftly.

Each site had a Legionella Risk Assessment carried out in accordance with ACoP L8 ‘The control of Legionella bacteria in water systems’ and guidance HSG 274 to examine the water systems and to determine if they present any foreseeable health-related risks associated with Legionella. In addition to the assessment, Humankind instructed water sampling to be carried out. This is analysed by an independent UKAS accredited laboratory for each site to ensure the safety of their water.

It is important to note that we began working together during the COVID-19 pandemic, so it was essential to maintain regular communication between both parties to ensure visits could be carried out safely for both Humankind and Qube. Each Humankind site made sure that we felt comfortable at all their premises during this challenging time.

The outcome:

All sites received a comprehensive Legionella Risk Assessment report that provides a detailed review of any identified risks, outlines recommendations for reducing these risks, and highlights current practices. Alongside this, water sample test results were provided.

Each report was reviewed in detail by Humankind, especially with regards to how additional tasks could be undertaken to further ensure the safety of their water system. This led us to carrying out additional services, such as a tank clean where required. It was great to see a company taking such an active approach to managing their system.

The service from QUBE has been impressive (special thanks go to Siobhan and Cameron). Of particular importance to us is the quality of the written reports and documentation, and that clear explanations are given for recommendations. QUBE provides us with detailed, well-structured and readable reports, allowing us to understand our ongoing water-management responsibilities. Where we have asked for remedial works to be completed, QUBE has actioned these to a high standard and reasonable cost. Initially, we asked QUBE to assess our Staffordshire sites, but were so impressed with the service that we extended this to cover our other sites in the Midlands and Yorkshire.

The safety of our buildings is of the utmost importance to us, and QUBE helps us to maintain high standards of safety.
